Why I started JOIAAS
I thought my medical training had prepared me for postpartum life.
Motherhood taught me otherwise.
I was a family medicine resident physician when I had my first child. I knew how important nutrition was, yet in those early months I struggled to nourish myself while caring for a newborn.
I remember holding my second newborn and reading to my five-year old a book about how an octopus mother guards her eggs until they hatch, only to die afterward. I remember thinking:
I could relate to this creature.
The feeling that motherhood required me to slowly deplete myself felt far too familiar, and I realized that it should not be considered normal.
I created JOIAAS so that no mother has to choose between taking care of everyone else and taking care of herself.

A mother shouldn't have to deplete herself to care for her baby.
JOIAAS exists to make deeply nourishing food
one less thing
a new mother has to think about.

Ayurvedic tradition has long regarded the
first 42 days after birth
as a uniquely important window for restoring and nourishing the mother-
a philosophy that deeply informs JOIAAS.
We combine this timeless wisdom with modern nutrition science to create meals that help mothers feel supported, nourished, and cared for during one of life's
most transformational seasons.

Ancient Wisdom.
Modern Nourishment.
